One fully collapsed lung won't lead to unconsciousness although it's petty scary, very painful and makes moving around extremely difficult.

Guy had 0 training and he ran into the right one. The way he pops up with that AK pistol then turns his back on the stranger, he's lucky the guy didn't snatch it from him and shoot up the place. When shot, never run.
