Security Guard Kills Shooter Who Fired at Crowd Outside Alaskan Bar
Anchorage, Alaska, USA One man is dead and three others were injured in an early morning shooting in downtown Anchorage. The deceased was identified as the original shooter, 23-year-old Leroy M., who was captured on CCTV firing at a crowd outside the 'Gaslight' bar at around 2.50am on Sunday 20th. Two of those shot were security guards - one was shot seven times and suffered life threatening injuries (although he was reported to be scheduled for release from hospital), whilst another was shot in the hand. A female customer was grazed by a round. A third security guard retrieved his weapon from his car, and shot Leroy, killing him at the scene. According to 'Gaslight' owner John Pattee, who released the CCTV footage to reporters, the actions of the guard, who had a military background, very likely saved lives. The Anchorage Police have confirmed that they are not considering filing charges against the guard, as state law on homicide includes an exception for defence of human life. |
