i agree to extent but if you look at the list of crimes which are punishable by death in saudi arabia i think you'll see a major difference between the two

That's a fair point. Though not applicable in this particular instance, as the woman was accused of murdering a child. You are absolutely correct, however, that we tend to be a bit more discriminating in the application of the death penalty in the US.
