São Paulo Man Shot Dead After Trying to Grab Police Officer's Gun
São Paulo, Brazil A 36-year-old man, Rafael d.N.G., was shot dead by a police officer after attempting to seize their weapon during an incident involving erratic behaviour. Witnesses told police that Rafael had been acting aggressively before officers arrived in response to a burglary alert, climbing onto the roof of a house and throwing objects at neighbours. The home where he lived showed signs of disorder, including paint spilled on the floor and damaged furniture. Apparently, Rafael suffered from a paranoid fear that he was being pursued by criminal factions, isolating himself in his room. When police arrived, they found no evidence of burglary. However, whilst police were registering the case, Rafael suddenly attempted to disarm one officer, prompting another to open fire in response to what authorities described as an “aggression and imminent threat.” The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the approach and the fatal shot. The case has been registered as a death resulting from police intervention. |
