One unnamed Russian guy died and other was taken to a hospital in a critical condition after falling from a cliff (3010 m above sea level) in Dombay, Russia. The guys were rolling downhill in an zorb while participating in ‘zorbing’.

weird as you might think that getting into a very large bouncy ball on a high mountain slope would be totally safe.

27-year-old Denis Burakov (left
) died from injuries he sustained, while his acquaintance Vladimir Shcherbov, 33,(right) was hospitalized with a concussion and multiple lacerations to the head and body after falling from a cliff (1000 m) in Dombay, Russia.

The accident happened on January 3 at the mountain sports resort of Dombai in Russia's North Caucasus mountain range, the country's Investigative Committee said in a statement.

The so-called orb carrying the two men was supposed to come to a gentle halt at the bottom of a slope but veered off course, teetering on the edge of a ravine before plunging down it.

The orb eventually stopped about 1 kilometer away on a frozen lake, investigators said.

An investigation has been opened into criminal negligence causing death on the part of the extreme sports organizers.

The maximum penalty is ten years in prison.

Could have been worse I suppose....the ice on the lake the Zorb stopped on could have cracked as the rescue team arrived!!
