Why not? Committing suicide doesn't automatically mean you don't care about family, friends etc. It just means you think there's nothing out there for you, it's too painful to keep on living and so on. I wouldn't want my family to scrub my brain matter out of the furniture and walls and having to change the floor due to my blood staining it because they'd probably have it hard enough as is.
