It's a bit sus but then again, he was in shock, and I know from personal experience that shock can make people do strange things.
I once lifted a 300kg bike wet/full tank) to upright with a shattered wrist. Was only when home 20 mins later, that I started to think "fuck my wrist is sore". Another accident which exposed my knee cap, was also only when I got home that I realised the the "water" on my jeans was not from a gutter, but from my body's blood supply.

This is quite possibly the saddest thing I will see today. The fact that she is holding a 14 year old's hand helping him cross the street makes me think he might have been slightly special needs in the first place. The response of getting on the bus and trying to call her seems exactly like something the kids I've had to work with would do. I'm guessing the shock was just too much and he reverted to a "I'll pretend it didn't happen and everything will be okay" behavior that I've seen way too many times with special needs kids. Or I could be completely mistaken.
