Having a blowout is extremely rare. There are always different factors involved but it’s a rare occurrence especially with your tyres in good shape.
Except if you have your tyres repaired by these guys:

Actually their doing a helluva job there. That’s vulcanization. I’d have no problem driving that tyre.

Vulcanization is a range of processes for hardening rubbers.

Vulcanization, a chemical process by which the physical properties of natural or synthetic rubber are improved; finished rubber has higher tensile strength and resistance to swelling and abrasion, and is elastic over a greater range of temperatures.

Vulcanized rubber is used to manufacture shoes, waterproof clothing, life jackets, balls, hats, umbrellas, rafts. It’s an important component in tires, roofs, floors, transmission belts, assembly lines, shock absorbers, seals and gaskets.

Using the file roughs up the rubber. Then by using vulcanizing glue and the rubber patch which is also roughed up with the file the “vulcanizing” glue almost makes them become as one. It’s kind of melts the pieces together in a way. With them sewing the torn rubber gives it a lot of integrity over the hole. It looks primitive but is actually a very well done job with the proper equipment even though rudimentary.

Ball joint failure caused me to run off the road - luckily only grass. The other time...never drive the crazy bitch home that you just broke-up with.

Re: Russia - Guy Launched Out Of Crashing LADA

I've always only had flats on the rear and they were slow enough that I could catch it in time to pull over safely. My first actual blowout was whenever I was around 19 years old and my company truck was a dually so whenever it blew it sounded like a shotgun and scared the fuck out of me, but the truck didn't swerve and I could drive all the way to a tire shop. My boss only bought the cheapest used tires for trucks that weighed 9500lbs empty and we regularly loaded them or overloaded them to over 12000 and up to 15000 pounds which may have been the gross vehicle weight rating for an Isuzu NPR HD diesel.

One more irrational fear while driving.
I had a nail in my tire and plugged it last year, drove 4 months on it and was batshit paranoid with every turn I made...
I've rolled a car before... not thanks...
(And man, I wish they had cameras there, was a nasty one.)

It's russia so if you approached that dead body, the scent of blood now turned into vodka would have perfumed the air.

Re: Russia - Guy Launched Out Of Crashing LADA

Yes.The wheel becomes moot deflated and would immediately force the car into a violent left turn.. you would really need to be on your game with both hands planted firmly on the steering wheel to react to the massive pull… obviously he wasn’t..
I got a blown out left front tire at 140+km/h with my Volvo 850 after hitting an obstacle on the road, but the only reason i supposedly managed "to just keep driving" is because it was such a flat 'n Wide 'sports tire, almost No Air and pretty wide rubber.

If that happened with one of those tall Skinny/Narrow tires like under cheaper cars like Lada, it would have been like you drop an Anchor ⚓ but just underneath your left front wheel

Re: Russia - Guy Launched Out Of Crashing LADA

Looks like he wasn't wearing a seat belt which could have saved his life in this instance.
Did you ever saw the Crumple zones from Lada's ?

People in Russia and the Likes (Kazach etc) prefer to take their chances 'somewhere outthere' instead of getting impaled by their Dashboard and Steering Collum
