Oh shit, that went to hell pretty quickly huh. That had to be scary as fuck... doesn't look like there's much you can do after a failure like that.

Re: Russia - 2 Dead In Ultralight Accident
That was probably some well-used foreign-made para-wing with plenty of hours on it. I think most of them are rated at 4 Gs. plus or minus. They don't have ballistic chutes unless you have them installed. Ballistic chutes typically cost $5K to $8K. They probably paid $500 for the para-wing, so I doubt they would bother spending that much money for a rescue chute. They probably didn't bother reading the flight manual either, or doing any research on-line about the limitations of the machine. Figured it was really simple, like a motorcycle, so jump on and go! I bet (If they even have the flight manual) that it states very specifically "NO AEROBATICS" Once you go outside the limitations of the machine, you have just become a test-pilot, whether you want to be or not. When idiots kill themselves in aviation, it actually makes it safer for the rest of the flight community, because it means some retards are removed as factors when other people are flying. Didn't look like they were falling that fast, but you can sure hear the impact, so I can understand why they died. |

Well documented by the videographer. He didn't even flinch when his subject spontaneously transformed from routine to sensational.
