The victim, 39-year-old Oscar Robayo, was a ramp agent.

While authorities investigate the death of a 39-year-old ground handler at the Montreal airport, a passenger aboard the Paris-bound flight describes the horror of watching the fatal pushback accident unfold on his seatback screen.

"I could see the nose landing gear. And then all of a sudden, it was as if the tarmac worker had stumbled, and then at that moment, the plane backed up and we felt the shock," he said, recalling the moments before French Bee Flight 351 was scheduled to take off.

"I understood very quickly that something very serious had happened."

According to the IAM, he was a ramp agent with Samsic, which also provides baggage handling as well as passenger services at the Montreal airport.

The plane involved in the incident belongs to the airline French Bee and was scheduled to leave for Paris at 6 p.m. ET on Monday.

"At this stage, the exact circumstances of the accident, which occurred during the aircraft pushback operation, remain to be established," reads a statement from French Bee.

Onboard, passengers felt a distinct thud and shock wave as the aircraft lifted slightly during the impact. Adding to the trauma, the aircraft is outfitted with external cameras, including one on the belly of the plane, which fed video of the accident to some passengers.

The crew shut off the camera feed after about 30 seconds.

The surface of the tires is actually VERY GRABBY. Once it snags your heavy ramp clothes, it won't let go. In Phoenix, we had a ramper run over by the nose gear of a 757. They had to jack the nose gear up to get him out. They cut what remained of his lower leg off, and took him to the hospital. The plane was instantly grounded, the crew deactivated until the NTSB review and FAA Investigation, and the passengers off-loaded. I don't know if they had a spare aircraft available or not. That was nearly 40 years ago.
The plane and the flight crew are instantly Out of Service.
