It all can be summarized in that this country has long been regarded as one of the wealthiest in Latin America, but privatized education, health care, and pension systems still disproportionately favor the wealthy, and they have left a significant portion of the population in poverty or debt. So, on Friday, 18 October protests began. From that time on, there have been a lot of protests, deads and skirmishes but the political elite doesn't listen to the demands. History repeats itself, i guess...
