i live in Vancouver and have traveled a lot in that airport...the sad part is,if you know that airport,he was just meters away from the greeting area where his Mother was waiting for him. My main question is also this: why didn't his mother make any formal questions as to where her son was and why she couldn't find him..also,why would it take 4 police officers to keep kneeling on a man who was obviously down and not resisting arrest...i can understand his frustration after a long flight,not knowing any English and spending 10 hours in confusion...this should never have happened. now,that last time i went through the international departures and arrivals section of Vancouver Airport i noticed new signs in many different languages...obviously,because of this terrible tragedy that took place. Those officers should have been better prepared,and also,they still deny any wrong doings(mostly) on their part in this. it is truly disgusting...RIP Robert..i wish you could have started over a new part of your life with your mother in our beautiful city. God Bless and rest your soul.

Too many ppl have died from those things to still call them "Non-lethal force". There were more then enough personnel on the scene and that just wasn't needed. They should be a last resort.

I agree with that. However when you're getting electricity pumped into you you're going to convulse. You don't have control over your muscles and cops don't seem to understand that. When you're getting tased it is physically impossible to just fight through the shocks. The only way that you can be getting tased and have control of your muscles is if one of the prongs isn't in. I just have a problem with cops percieving involantary muscle spasms as resistance.

Sad, and 10 hours is WAY too long to be held without being attended to, but a person should NEVER act unruly or aggressive while in an airport. There are way too many terrorist out there to let your guard down. That being said, this guy was no terrorist. This could have been handled better.
