Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
Full details of the incident came to light because it was filmed by a member of the public, Paul Pritchard. The police initially took possession of the video, refusing to return it to Pritchard. Pritchard went to court to obtain it, then released it to the press. Bastards |

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
This is fucking disgusting, how hard is it to find someone who speaks his fucking language in ten hours. Unbelievable that they put someone through this only for him to die at the end of it. I'm glad I'm not flying out of B.C. next week. |

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
Too many ppl have died from those things to still call them "Non-lethal force". There were more then enough personnel on the scene and that just wasn't needed. They should be a last resort.

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
Cops are RETARDED they dont know when to use excessive force. 4 on 1 guy is in distress armed with a stapler , are u telling me the 4 cops werent strong enough together to take him down and handcuff him. Airport should be sued the Police officers should be suspended without pay , but of course none of that will happen its sad but hey if your ever in a situation and ur gonna get tasered make sure u hit a cop as hard as u can u might not get another chance!

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
Robert Dziekański (April 15, 1967 – October 14, 2007; Polish pronunciation: [ˈrɔbɛrt dʑeˈkaɲski]) was a Polish immigrant to Canada who died on October 14, 2007, after being tasered five times by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) at Vancouver International Airport. Full details of the incident came to light because it was filmed by a member of the public, Paul Pritchard. The police initially took possession of the video, refusing to return it to Pritchard. Pritchard went to court to obtain it, then released it to the press. Four RCMP officers, Constables Gerry Rundel, Bill Bently, Kwesi Millington, and supervisor Corporal Benjamin Robinson, arrived and entered the Customs room where Dziekański was pacing about. They apparently directed him to stand near a counter, to which Dziekański complied but picked up a stapler sometime after being told to place his hands on a counter. Shortly thereafter, about 25 seconds after arriving at the scene, Corporal Robinson ordered the Taser to be used. Constable Millington tasered Dziekański. He began to convulse and was tasered several more times after falling to the ground, where the four officers pinned, handcuffed and continued to taser him. One eyewitness, who recorded the incident on her cellphone, told CBC News that Dziekański had been tasered four times. "The third and fourth ones were at the same time" delivered by the officers at Dziekanski's right and left, just before Dziekański fell. According to B.C. Crown counsel spokesman Stan Lowe, Dziekański was tasered a total of five times.[3] Constable Millington testified that he deployed the Taser four times, but he believed that in some of those instances the probes may not have contacted Dziekański's body. Dziekanski writhed and screamed before he stopped moving. Cpl. Benjamin Monty Robinson stated he then checked for a pulse, but his heart had stopped. Testimony from the other RCMP officers state they never saw anyone including Robinson check for a pulse. Dziekański did not receive CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene approximately 15 minutes later. They were unable to revive him and pronounced him dead at the scene. |

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
My dad was an adult probation officer after retiring from the military. One of his probationers got in trouble one time and it took 8 police officers to subdue him and put him in the squad car- you never know just what someone is capable of. While in the military, my dad personally witnessed a man shot 4 times, all shots in vitals(1 heart, both lungs and the abdomen) at point blank range with a .357- b4 the guy died, he KILLED the guy who shot him with his bare hands. When subduing a suspect, whether by taser, gun, baton, whatever, you continue UNTIL the suspect has STOPPED resisting or is completely incapacitated. This is why you DO NOT resist, you are just ASKING to get seriously hurt. An LE officers job, 1st and foremost, is to go home to his loved ones at the end of his shift. Period.

Re: Robert Dziekański Killed by Taser at Vancouver International Airport.
It's not that they couldn't find a translator for 10 hours, it's the fact that he sat waiting in a secure zone for 10 hours where his mother couldn't get to (Because of security). He simply didn't walk far enough out of the airport to where the meeting spot was. I don't think he deserved to die, but he did deserve to get arrested for smashing shit, what do you expect would happen in Poland if he tried to pull that shit there? He'd be beaten with police batons. Reaching for a stapler when there are 4 cops trying to subdue you is a good enough reason to get tasered. They didn't think he was going to die, but the guy was an idiot and has nobody to blame but himself, and maybe his mommy for not telling him to go ALL THE WAY OUTSIDE to meet her. Everyone else in the airport kept moving until they got out of the building, why couldn't he? If he's special needs, again, I would have to blame his mother for not setting up an escort from the proper airport officials before the ticket was paid for in full. Now she's a millionaire from suing the airport and RCMP, and she all over the news fighting for causes that she wouldn't have otherwise. Lame. She should be deported.
