During the funeral of a murder victim, two men on a motorcycle suddenly appeared, with one of them opening fire on the crowd - no one was wounded.

Minutes later, another motorcycle carrying two men arrived at the scene. Among the two was retired police sergeant Norberto P.S., with his companion holding a pistol. A police patrol that were looking for the funeral shooters arrived to talk to Norberto and the other man, who said they had just been victims of a robbery and were looking for the culprits. The officers took Norberto and his companion into their patrol vehicle after a search uncovered the pistol.

However, local citizens, believing that Norberto was involved in the funeral shooting, surged towards the patrol vehicle, dragged Norberto, and attacked him with sticks and stones, killing him at the scene. It was later confirmed that Norberto was not involved in the funeral shooting.

Three young men, aged between 18 and 22, were arrested for their part in the lynching, whilst Norberto's companion was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
