The execution was, in all probability, delayed but not prevented. ISIS folks obviously were in charge on the ground and I doubt it the handcuffed prisoners ultimately got away even if they escaped the immediate vicinity during the temporary confusion. Air power is impressive, but cannot accomplish what boots on the ground can do.
