As to the subject of a second camera, it would be highly unusual to run "iso decks" on a live newscast at a small tv station in that era. It would be more common to record the newscast before it got to master control (and with no time date stamp at all) for replaying at a later time. But such a tape would just be a copy of a live switched feed.

However, it has been stated that this station had only one single camera in the newsroom set.

When a station has a single camera, it is not uncommon to stay on the wider angle, instead of zooming in and out, depending on what else might be going on.

Regardless, there are too many flaws here to consider this real.

I was just reading on the "NationSquid" forum (started by the YouTuber who initially uploaded the "suicide" video), and someone just today pointed out another major discrepancy.

There are three photos of the news desk that show risers used by the newsreaders to hide the copy they would be holding in front of them. One can compare all three photos and notice that there is definitely a riser behind the 'W' and the 'S', presumably where Chubbuck was sitting when she shot herself. In the hoax video, she is shown sitting behind the 'W' and the 'S' but there is clearly NO RISER there. She lays her copy down as she reaches for the gun, and you can see there is no riser there. The only explanation for this would be that Christine had that riser removed for her news reading segment/suicide and then someone put it back in place before the AP got there to photograph the set later that day after the incident. Seems unlikely.

The other point, that I can't remember being made in this forum (perhaps I'm forgetting) is that the time stamp reads "ABC" where it should read "WXLT" as this was a local broadcast and not a national network one. The station would identify itself as "WXLT" and not "ABC". Does anyone know whether an actual network (CBS, NBC, ABC) time stamp would read "ABC" or "WABC"?

The reason this re-enactment was made was because there was a recent movie that came out on Christine Chubbock and the incident of her on-air suicide called Christine (2016) starring Rebecca Hall and Michael C. Hall (Dexter). Someone tried to capitalize on that, and, of course, all the nutters and the just plain gullible that believed it was real helped to give this fake tape a high profile.

The real audio surfaced early this year.



In early 2021, YouTuber Ataliste acquired what is generally accepted as being a legitimate cassette recording of the audio from the incident (via an undisclosed private collector), releasing the portion of the newscast prior to the suicide on their YouTube channel in February of that year (though, choosing not to publish the actual suicide audio out of respect). The audio matches the voice of Christine heard in Kate Plays Christine and also aligns with the news reported on in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune from the day of the incident, leaving little doubt as to its authenticity.[10]

In April of the same year, Ataliste released the audio in its entirety via his YouTube channel. It has since been privated (as has the other video, without her final words and the gunshot).
