I've read that punishment for rape is a 100 lashes, plus a year or two in some dark dungeon and compensation for the victim as well. we should borrow a leaf from the book of Islamic Sharia when dealing with rapists in our own corner of the world. rape wouldn't be so prevalent in our societies with such a painful, drawn out public humiliation.

western jails are too soft and comfy and early parole is tantamount to letting the rapist off lightly. but since it wasn't a 100 lashes I guess it was as other members have mentioned for a lighter offence.

the reason why he says "Allahu Akbar" when receiving corporal punishment is to do with the idea of penance or atonement.
