$200 or even $400 for rent anywhere in NYC is unbeatable. that was probably only a portion of what he was expected to pay, but even so, clearly the landlord was willing to work with him when he didn’t have to. i guess the guy won’t have to worry about rent payments in prison.

I heard the landlord had the guy trapped in the house refusing to let him out? Tenant should have called 911 and reported kidnapping rather than pushing the old fool around but landlord 100% breaking the law by holding the guy prisoner over some stupid late rent. Doesn't really matter if it was $10 or $10,000 if the tenant doesn't have the cash or won't pay it you evict them and move on. |

Honestly...   Fine, scumbag was a shit tenant...but there are rules in place to protect landlord as well as the tenant. He made a mistake attempting to force his way into the home. It’s like no one watches fucking Judge Judy or Judge Mathis. Or any of those shows about nightmare tenants landlords and neighbors! 1:Put it all in writing. When the tenant doesn’t respond appropriately in the reasonable amount of time written in the agreement/contract.... 2:Go thru the process of legally evicting the asshole. 3: Much better to have bailiffs be the ones to come out and legally seize the home, than to lose your life like this. |
