Yesterday, the Al-Houban district witnessed the execution - carried out under the principle of "Qisas" (retribution) - of individuals convicted in the murder case of citizen Ahmed Hassan Abdullah. This execution took place after many years had passed since the commission of the crime, the events of which date back to 2007.

According to local sources, the incident shook the village of Al-Jindiyah at the time. The victim, an elderly man suffering from a physical disability, was found murdered inside a small room he inhabited near local qat farms. The crime was described as heinous and sparked widespread panic and outrage among the local residents.

Sources indicated that investigations conducted at the time led to suspicion falling on two young men, Faisal Ali Mahyoub and Nayef Ali Dahhan, who were arrested and brought to trial after evidence was gathered linking them to the crime. It was suggested that the motive may have been related to searching for hidden treasure in old houses.

The sources added that the convicted men spent years in the central prison before managing to escape during the war, only to be recaptured later. The case continued in the courts until a final verdict was issued and carried out following ongoing demands from the victim’s family.

The execution was carried out in front of a crowd of citizens, in accordance with the application of Islamic retributive justice, although the exact motive behind the crime remains unclear. The killing was described as especially harsh, given that the victim was unable to defend himself. The sources concluded by noting that the victim was known among people in his area for his good character and conduct.

I was expecting a little more professionalism, organization, and planning for this public execution considering that the initial crime occurred 19 years ago. Before watching the video I thought that maybe they would have chosen a different method such as a public hanging, beheading, or a more organized firing squad. It was strange to see people dressed in suits and nice shoes walking around on a pile of sand.
