Right Time - this is after dark, with protesters dressed in black

Right Place - the police would have provided security for a protest in a safe place. The middle of a public roadway is not the right place.


Right manner - don't wear all black at night in a public street. And part of the protest can't be pointing guns, real or not, at innocent families driving down the street.


The deceased was 100% responsible for his own death. Had he, or any of them. adhered to the law of the law, the SCOTUS ruling, this would not have happened.

Protests have happened almost daily in this country for decades with no loss of life. The big difference is those protests adhered to the 1st Amendment and all relevant laws and court rulings.

I don't think anybody could have said this better than you...I completely agree...And...I live in Texas, born and raised. We have concealed carry, open carry, as well as long gun open carry (if the gun is not loaded, chambered or magazined). Just because you CAN carry a long gun publicly, doesn't mean you should. This changes the dynamics of a protest into a life-threatening gesture/intimidation. This person who was killed had military training in handling weapons. It's too bad he chose poorly and it cost him his life. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should (openly promote your agenda with the menacing visual of an assault rifle and the possibility of using it to harm somebody that doesn't not agree with what you are doing in the first place). I leave with a question for each of you...I already discussed the many scenarios in which you can legally carry a firearm in Texas. It is illegal to carry a gun on or near a public school. Why is that? It is perfectly legal until you step foot on school property. Why can you do one, but not the other? One word. Intent. Whatever your intentions are or could be is the difference. Anybody with common sense should agree with that statement. You take a gun to a non-violent protest, but the scenario could possibly change and use of force is acceptable if not threatening? The protestor becomes the aggressor and if anybody thinks otherwise, they will be shot by a person who legally has the right to defend themselves from "peaceful" protestors trying to intimidate those who disagree.
