RAJKOT: The is tightening around two BJPcouncillors, who were named in the dying declaration by the Nepalese family whose five members died after immolating themselves on April 3.

The city police on Sunday evening summoned the councilors - Rajbha Zala and Kamlesh Mirani - for questioning. Sources said that Zala and Mirani were summoned at crime branch office.

Earlier, the police have also questioned BJP councillor and former standing committee chairman of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) Narendra Solanki, after CCTV footages showed that he was present at the civic body premises when family immolated themselves.

Five Nepalese family members Bharat, Asha, Girish, Rekha and Vasumati had set themselves ablaze alleging that they were being severely pressurized to evict their house located in common plot area of Chhotunagar Co-operative housing society.

Zala and Mirani were named by one of the deceased Girish Nepali in dying declaration alleging that they threatened them along with members of Chotunagar Society. Residents of the wards that these corporators represent have strongly rallied behind them and held protests in their support. Zala told media persons, " "Since I represent ward number 2, the residents of Chhotunagar Society had come to me once regarding the issue of Nepalase family living on the common plot. I had taken them along to meet the municipal commissioner. "

Zala denied threatening the family and said that he never knew them.
