Re: Probably Plutonium Related
Well it's all kicking off in the same 'Fragments out of the darkness' sort of way, for sure. A muddled and confusing introduction, and characters to match. Haftar alone, is a perplexing chunk of research to get into--oddly supported by Russia, up against the UN and obviously the US, yet with a pretty effing solid past accomplishing stuff totally inline with the US. I have a policy though, of not trusting ex-Gitmo detainees, or any of the things that they might get up to upon their releases. I've heard from two different places now in the past ten or so days that that is exactly what Haftar is. I simply have no real idea of what the shit they do up in that bitch--for all I know they clone terrorists in there, or genetically alter them to be able to somehow sexually duplicate with each other, and then just release their strange full sized baby doppelgängers, or maybe they just hollow the terrorists out as soon as they arrive there, and then refill their bearded husks with remote controlled solar powered robot guts and just turn them loose in some desert with a Radio Flyer full of Libyan gold bars. I just don't know. |

Yes, it will. I already got a message inquiring if I was interesting in re-joining the team. My answer was a clear "NO". I left that behind three years ago. Let me live in peace now.

I'm not sure if google is mistranslating that or if the Arabic transcript I copy-pasted it from was incorrect, but it's supposed to be the final words of Gaddafi, "Do you know right from wrong?"

No that's right, I just wasn't sure what you meant, or if it was even for me. The stupidest thing though is that I actually heard those were his last words, but still didn't make the connection. Those are pretty excellent last words for sure. The last words that stick in my mind most often are those of Robert Kennedy's--if it's to be believed, they were "Is Everybody Ok?" A wave of sadness hits me still, and makes my stomach sink every time I think of it. If it weren't for people like that this world, I think, would just dissolve and reassemble elsewhere whenever people like those could thrive. |

Re: Probably Plutonium Related
Something I find curious is that Robert Kennedy was killed with a cheap, crappy Iver Johnson "belly gun", the same make as the cheap, crappy belly guns used to assassinate William McKinley and Chicago mayor Andrew Cernak - though the assassin in that case was attempting to hit FDR and missed, hitting Cernak instead. Gaddafi is a leader who I find extraordinarily interesting because he had such a curious and complex combination of good and terrible traits that I think no one in his own time understood him. In this way, he reminds me of General William Sherman, contemporaries Marcus Antonius and Cicero, Otto von Bismarck, and, more obscurely, Tong Yabghu Qaghan, a Turkic khagan from the 7th century. |
