Yup. Not even joking.
There's a DEA agent under investigation right now in my state for stealing drugs from DEA evidence lockers, shaking down dealers, intimidating witnesses, cutting his task force in the local police in on the action, and possibly even murder.
Two of his partners, who are Sheriff's deputies, have already been convicted. And a few months ago, the FBI raided the Sheriff's Office and the local PD offices in the city where that agent got his start and operated.
Dude got on with the Sheriff's Department 20+ years ago and used his family connections to go straight into narco work, and then was later hired by the DEA. The current Sheriff running that department is the Governor's brother, and cops that were there when ol' boy was first hired on still talk about how dirty they all knew that agent was even back then.
It's fuckin' disgusting.  that's amazing.
