India, A 25 year-old dancer that was 2 months pregnant was shot dead on stage allegedly by a drunk man after he was not allowed to dance with her troupe in Punjab’s Bathinda.

The incident happened last night during the marriage function of a local commission agent’s son in Maur where the deceased, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, was performing with her dance troupe.

A group of the groom’s friends, who were allegedly drunk, were firing in the air and tried to come on to the stage to join the dancers, police said.

On being prevented from dancing on stage, one of the men from the group, Billa, allegedly opened fire with his .12 bore gun, hitting Kulwinder in her head.

Video footage of the incident shows the victim being shot at from close range and collapsing to the ground.

“She died on the way to hospital,” Bathinda DSP (Maur) Davinder Singh said today.

A case of murder has been registered against four persons, including Billa, police said, adding that they are absconding.

The other three are yet to be identified and investigation is underway, police said.

The police, however, maintain that it was a case of celebratory firing gone wrong. "Details will be out after postmortem," said Daljit Singh, a police officer.

Eyewitnesses agree with the police. The dancers, they say were performing on stage when the celebratory firing began.

A bullet fired by Billa got stuck in his double-barrelled gun and while he tried to unlock it, it had hit Kulwinder, they said.

A few points.
1) How is that a dancing troupe? It just looks like some wedding guests trying to dance cute and sexy but not in unison.
2) Why is there an old dude with a gun at the wedding?
3) Isn't it shocking how a young life can be taken in an instant
4) How can four grown men not pick up a tiny girl without dragging her down the stairs feet first.
5) Is it just me?

Indian standards are incredibly low, if in doubt go check some locking and popping videos on YouTube and watch how they consider the crappiest guys as phenomenal dancers and on par with the best in the field.

I've watched a few Indian "talent" shows just to get a good laugh at how they are wowed by lame dance moves as if they were so great!

I ask myself how in the hell could they be amazed by half assed moves that look quite ridiculous to me, but heck, Indians are easily entertained
