Make no mistake about it, from a few paces, a man with a knife can kill you before you can react and get off the first shot. This cop did what he had to do to protect himself. A tragic death? Yes. A justifiable homicide? Also yes.

Seems to me the logical thing to do for cop was to retreat until back up arrived. The cop had options available, but instead chose to end the dude's life. Yes, according to law the cop will not face repercussions for what he did (which is stupid, none the less expected), but the right thing to do was to retreat. If he had some mace, a tazer, retreated, even fired a warning shot it would have ended differently. Cops should serve to protect the people, not end lives when its the convenient option. ethics 101 fucking dumbasses. |

As the cop is backing out of the building, whilst watching the knifeman, the cop trips and falls, knife man then stabs police officer. People would be saying 'the cop should off shot him 1st'. Dammed if they do, dammed if they don't. |
