Thank you for telling that, i'm sorry if it was mentioned and i missed facts before posting. That is hugely hugely different than what i 'guessed'. And the IQ remark was inappropriate. Ive been on the ground with a cop on adrenaline pointing a rifle at me yelling stuff i couldnt understand and was very frightened at the time. that was a scene of slow motion pure terror. and im sorry that it happened. it definitely needs review by a different body than the ones who said it was good. it really was like the cop was playing a game of lets tell this confused idiot to do shit till he fucks up and i can shoot him. just wrong, and im sorry i jumped out like that.

That's Mesa PD for you. From what I understand, that department is a real shit show.

Otherwise, mileage can vary by jurisdiction. In some places, the cops can be pretty chill and squared-away. In others, especially big cities, not so much.

Yes the commands were confusing, like crawling without using your hands. The sergeant is the one that fucked it up on the police side.

As for the shots, you almost have to skip directly to the shooting and judge it based on those three seconds. You should only get to watch it once at full speed, just like the officer that shot him did and without the knowledge of if the Male has a gun in his waistband or nor.

The male reached for his waistband during a high risk pedestrian stop after being instructed not too. Intoxication obviously played a role in what led up to the shooting.

The police officers could have moved forward with two officers at the Male's feet holding guard on the door while the other four officers split up to handcuff the Male and female.

They could have move forward enough for two officers to pull the female to them by each grabbing an arm while the other four watched the door and the male. Once cuffed and contained, drag the Male the same way as the female or advance forward to cuff him

While I hate the commands given, I can't tell exactly how impaired the Male is. Obvious signs of him being absolutely hammered can lead to things having to be explained repeatedly in plain language, i.e. you put your hands down and you will get shot. Conversely, if the sergeant thought or could tell the Male was impaired, the sergeant should have altered his tactics to avoid any commands or actions that the impaired Male could not reasonably follow.

But, does confusing commands during a tense situation
rise to proving beyond a reasonable doubt the sergeant (not the officer) was guilty of murder or manslaughter as a conspirator?

I don't like the video, I would not have handled it that way. The villains here are the sergeant and the intoxicated Male.
Set aside the conflicting commands. There were better tactical options than hyping up your rookie officers by repeatingly saying "you will get shot" to the Male if he flinches.
A self fulfilling prophecy is normally not a great tactical option.
Time was on the officers side overall (not talking about action vs reaction.) The sergeant's overall tactical plan was horrible.
Verdict was correct by the jury on charges related to the officer that fired the shots.

The sergeant gets to escape via retirement and the Philippines. The intoxicated Male who was waving around a pellet gun that looked like a rifle causing a large police response was either suicide by cop or being intoxicated to the point of not being able to follow commands. Both ways led to the Male being shot and killed.

The officer that fired the shots is fucked up for life.

A smart reporter would ask for any other body cam footage, although that isn't going to change what happened. The other body cams may show the Male reaching to pull up his shorts, but that isn't the view the officer who shot had. Even this body cam isn't exactly what the officer saw because the body cam is being worn on his chest.
