I can't remember the war-documentary book I read where they had a graphic description of corpse desecration. I think I might have amalgamized my stigma from a few different stories. But I will say this. I believe that how a people treat the dead demonstrates the respect they have for the living. Not just their living/dead, but all. I remember reading journalist accounts from numerous wars where the use of corpses for target-practice was considered ghoulish and inhuman. And in some of these wars they faced Turks and Tribal-Africans, where some of the practices we see today were quite commonplace back then. And even then, the general response was disgust, as written by the Western authors of course. Be careful what you sow, as you may well reap similarly. |
