Two members of a family died, while two others were injured in a shooting incident on January 2nd in Barangay Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negr0 Occidental. Donan Sosia, a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) shot and killed J.A.T., 32, and his father, 'G', 70.

Sosia responded to a report that 'J' and his brother-in-law were fighting and causing public disturbance. When he arrived, 'J' threatened him with a bolo. The suspect shot him and his elderly father with an M-16 rifle.

'J's wife, Jeisel Abaño, was hit by stray bullets, along with Marites Rafol. Both injured victims were brought to a hospital in Bacolod City.

Sosia is facing two counts each of murder and attempted murder charges for the shooting. “We are filing a case for two counts of murder before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor. It will be attempted murder in the case of two females hit by stray bullets,” Maj. Jovito Bose, town police chief, said in an interview on Wednesday, January 3.

I didn't see any threatening behaviour until the soldier looked left, stepped back and pulled the charging handle. Looks like he was going to fire in the direction that the dad appeared from. That's when the kid got up with the knife, probably to try and stop him.
