Re: Petrol Tanker Explosion At Oluku
Maybe they should post PSA posters of dead/dying/burnt people on the side of tankers. |

Re: Petrol Tanker Explosion At Oluku
It took five and a half hourss for it to explode. Liquid petrol itself does not explode but it is the vapor mixing with oxygen that is highly volatile. When the tanker initially overturned, the fuel was pooling in the drainage channels. It took several hours for the fuel to volatilize, creating a dense, invisible cloud of highly flammable vapor surrounding the site. Around midday, an emergency response team brought in a secondary truck to pump out the remaining fuel. Witnesses report that the mechanical equipment, a generator or a friction spark from someone trying to extract the fuel finally ignited the heavily concentrated vapor cloud. The tanker sat in the sun for over five hours. The intense midday heat rapidly accelerated the evaporation of the spilled petrol, filling the immediate air with fuel fumes and leaving the entire market area acting like a ticking time bomb waiting for a single spark. In other words, they never learn and in the near future exact the same will occur again |
