A female paediatric gastroenterology specialist, Minosska d.J.P.L., was shot dead in broad daylight in an apparent targeted killing as she was about to enter her apartment. A gunman dressed in shorts approached her on foot along the sidewalk without warning and fired multiple shots, striking her three times in the head and neck.

Cops have detained a man identified as her ex-partner. He is also a doctor. He reportedly works in Talara, a city about two hours from Piura.

However he was intervened in the city of Piura shortly after the crime occurred. Investigators are questioning him to establish his whereabouts at 2:30 PM on Friday and to investigate any history of domestic conflict or threats.

Investigation suggests the doctor was set up as she received a phone call while at work at the Clinica Carita Feliz. The caller reportedly claimed there was an emergency with her daughter or a family member at her home.

This call allegedly prompted her to rush home where the gunman wass waiting. While extortion was the initial theory due to recent trends in that area, the detention of the ex-partner has caused the police to prioritize femicide as a primary line of investigation.

Her ex partner is being investigated as the mastermind who allegedly orchestrated the trap call and hired the hitman.

The suspect’s initial statements and phone logs are being compared against the timeline of the emergency call that lured her to her home.

She was married to a prominent pediatrician now btw.
