I hope he's not tried at a traditional indigenous jury so usual in Cajamarca where this happened. Some background to allow you to understand this: Cajamarca is a village inhabited by a tribe of Amerindians, the Peruvian government is respectul of their customs and traditions, their code of law included. Violent crimes are tried at a people's jury and the sentence ranges from physical exercise to whippings with a bull pizzle on the naked back after being hit with nettles and dowsed in cold water, then made to walk the streets of the village and then... let go home! This is what happened to a molester/rapist in Cajamarca, his name was written into a minute book and then they punished him before a crowd, but he didn't go to jail: |
