Performing CPR on Drowning Victim at Apartment Pool

California

This info was posted alongside it on a Facebook group:
On July 8, 2026, my sister and cousin went to the pool at their apartment complex because it had been really hot and they wanted to cool off. There were other people there swimming and hanging out as well. About 8 minutes after they arrived, they noticed a man swimming down to the bottom of the pool and coming back up. Since neither of them knew how to swim very well, they were just watching everyone around them.

A little while later, they saw him swim down again, but this time he never came back up.

They looked into the pool and saw him at the bottom. They started asking the other residents if anyone knew him or if someone could help. A man nearby jumped into the pool and brought him back up, and my sister helped pull him out.

She said he was cold to the touch and was already having agonal breathing. They called 911 right away, and emergency responders arrived within about 3 minutes. They tried to help him while police took statements from everyone who witnessed what happened.
Afterward, they heard that he had a history of seizures and that he usually came to the pool with his son because his son would stay with him in case he had one. Unfortunately, that day he went alone.

There hasn’t been any update since then, so we don’t know for sure what happened. But based on what my sister saw, it seems like he may have passed away.

He wasn't doing CPR hard enough. I didn't hear any ribs cracking.

If you're prone to seizures, stick with activities like badminton, golf, ping-pong, board games.
Don't operate a motor vehicle, swim, skydive. If someone about to perform fellatio on you is wearing a Medic-Alert bracelet, I would inquire about the specifics of the medical issue.
