And we know he's a pedo becaaaauuuuse......some convict said so? For all we know, the people torturing him KILLED children, but as long as they didn't diddle kids they feel they stand on higher ground.
Your gut feeling was correct. Based on a report I found, the crime he had committed was theft.

A 24-year-old man was found dead with a rope tied around his neck; on video, detainees say that "this is what the Red Command does with the PCC".

G.M.d.S. was found already dead in the screening cell of one of the pavilions. The detainee, who would have been detained for theft, had a homemade rope (known as Tereza) tied around his neck. The Secretary of State for Justice and Public Security will open an internal procedure to investigate the case and register a police report.
