A pedestrian struck and killed by a Metrolink train in El Monte was identified.

Enrique Huerta, 32, died at the scene after being struck by the train near Cogswell Road and Lansdale Avenue at about 7 a.m. Monday, according to the coroner’s office and El Monte police. His home town was not known.

Train number 309, bound for Los Angeles on the San Bernardino Line, was about a mile east of the El Monte Metrolink Station when Huerta was hit, according to Scott Johnson of Metrolink. About 650 people were aboard the train, and none reported injuries, police said.

According to witnesses, the warning lights were active.
