On April 14, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision was reported on Sherman Way and Etiwanda Avenue.

A pedestrian was crossing south on Etiwanda Avenue inside of a marked crosswalk, when he fell to the ground.

The pedestrian, around 60 years old, remained on the ground, unable to get up from lanes of traffic, when a dark-colored sedan going east on Sherman Way struck him. The driver of the sedan continued east on Sherman Way, failing to stop or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

His name is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

Pedestrians are reminded to use caution and allow plenty of time to cross the street in a safe manner.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Probably assumed people were going to stop after the first car did. I’ve definitely fallen in the street…TWICE . One time I was even carrying my daughter. No one gave AF lol.

Thankfully both times were red lights & I was in a crosswalk but you better believe I jumped up both times and got to safety before tending to my injuries(I protected my daughter in the fall. She didn’t even wake up lol). Plus I was embarrassed AF. I did a literal belly flop the second time. Both times in busy ass intersections.

This person may have had more luck if it had been daytime but not necessarily. I know I definitely wasn’t going to wait around and find out. Now that I think about it I’ve definitely fallen in a parking lot too
