Pedestrian Crossing the Road Fatally Hit by Car
Okhinsky District of Sakhalin Oblast, russia. A Toyota driver, 24, that has been held administratively liable 18 times for traffic violations in the past 2 years, hit a pedestrian that died before the doctors arrived. The driver refused take a breathalyzer test.

Holy crap. The victim was hit so hard I'm surprised they didn't end up in orbit. Not much room for argument over fault here. Travelling at warp 9 & hit a pedestrian on a crossing. Wow. I would have thought the pedestrian would hear that thing approaching? |

Typical idiot walking and staring at the palm of his hand. Too engrossed to pay attention or have any situational awareness. It seems there are very few people who can’t live without a cellphone in their hand even while walking.  Death by cellphone.  |

I did. I surf my phone every morning for around 1 hour checking emails, messaging friends. After that I come here to see things posted while I was asleep. Then I put it down, hit the shower and get to work. The only sound it makes is a ring when someone calls. Other than that it lives next to my bed and rarely goes outside. I don’t carry it with me unless I’m leaving town going somewhere and then it’s in my carry bag. It’s definitely a convenience but not a lifeline. I still have a landline I use for calling. I check it periodically during the day for emails and such but it’s not glued to my hand like so many others. I refuse to be a slave to my phone every time it rings, chimes, swooshes or anything else. I control its use, it does not control me.  Can you say the same?  |

See. This is why you don't just blindly wander into the street even if you have a crosswalk or traffic light or something. Keep some fucking awareness of what's going on around you. It's not like that car popped up out of nowhere. You can hear it coming from a fucking mile away. Yeah, the driver was totally at fault there, but which party ended up in the body bag? At the end of the day, you're a LOT squishier than a car even if you have the right of way, so take some god damn responsibility for your own survival.
