It is a very common occurrence. I did three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. They fire into the air to celebrate everything over there. Once when the Iraqi soccer team won a match Millions of rounds were expended and tracers lit up the sky in Baghdad. It was raining bullets for about twenty minutes.
