~ Experienced showboater was coming in too fast, then after the turn, his parachute had too sharp of a forward landing angle due to reduced air pressure support, combined with his body being angled too wide because of his inertial weight, & trying to avoid hitting the other parachutist already on the beach, caused this accidental suicide. ~ Personally I would leave all the maneuvering & showboating whilst still up in the air, & then just have a good old boring slow walk-in landing. |

It looks like he lost too much velocity in that turn, and then dropped like a pink, mushy rock after that, with predictable results. In other news, nice big ass on the woman tending to him. |

He made his turn to final too late/low. When this happens, we call it a "Hook Turn". I've seen it happen a few times. You need to turn, to final, no lower than about 200 feet. A 90* turn will burn about 150 feet of altitude and will increase your speed of descent greatly. |
