Re: One Last Drink Before Blowing His Brains Out
The narration was better than the video. I think being called a Cracker was the last straw for him. |

Re: One Last Drink Before Blowing His Brains Out
I heard "cracker" was a term used by slaves for the white slave drivers because they would "crack" the whip. You might investigate when the "cracker" term began, if before 1865 there is a good probability it wasn't Jimmy Crack Corn or saltines. BTW, a bullwhip cracks because the tail is actually going supersonic, a small sonic boom! That would be faster than many bullets shot from a Colt .45 Automatic. The history of racial and derogatory terms is interesting. Black people call whites "honkies" because blacks usually encountered jewish shopkeepers with large noses in their neighborhoods, "honking" noses, IIRC. |

Re: One Last Drink Before Blowing His Brains Out
I've heard at least two other etymologies for the word honkie; I assume derogatory words are used more in spoken language so their history is murkier than words in common, non vulgar use. You're not going to find literature, newspapers, magazines I assume that use the word honkie. I guess letters might have the term. Anyroad, I'm sure there are more stories as to how honkie or other racist words came to be. |

Thank God he didn't shoot the commentator before killing himself. NASA would have missed him.
