One Killed, 3 Injured when a Truck and Taxi Collide Head-on

An accident on a Colombian highway that involved a taxi and a truck that collided violently resulted in a preliminary toll of one person dead and three injured.

The accident occurred around 2:00 pm, Saturday and was documented on video captured by a security camera in the area.

The accident began when a taxi, apparently trying to avoid a motorcycle parked badly on the road, invaded the opposite lane. This caused a head-on collision with a heavy-duty truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact was so strong that the taxi flew into the air, while the truck lost control and ended up crashing into a house located on the side of the road, where three people were talking, one of them parked on a motorcycle.

The crash left the front of the house completely destroyed, and one of the people at the scene was run over by the truck. Witnesses at the scene described the scene as chaotic, with vehicles severely damaged and debris from the home strewn across the area.

In a second video recorded by witnesses, the state of the vehicles after the accident can be seen. The taxi, completely destroyed, and the truck, off the road, showed the magnitude of the impact. In addition, traffic on this important highway was paralyzed, while emergency teams worked to treat the victims and clear the area.

Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the accident.

Although the first hypotheses point to the taxi's maneuver to avoid the badly parked motorcycle, an official report is expected to confirm the causes and determine whether there could also have been excessive speed, mechanical failure or another type of situation that caused the unfortunate road accident.
