One Killed, 13 Injured when Thugs on Passing Bike Throw Grenade in the Street
On January 22, 2026, in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Bogotá, Colombia, in the Los Mártires locality, downtown area, two men on a motorcycle threw a fragmentation grenade near the Troya nightclub around 9:08 PM. The explosion caused blast and shrapnel injuries, resulting in 1 death, a 75-year-old man who succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment and 13 injuries. Authorities, including Bogotá Police and the Fiscalía General de la Nación, launched a joint investigation. Security camera footage captured the attackers throwing the device and fleeing immediately before the detonation. Initial hypotheses pointed to possible extortion, disputes between criminal gangs, or territorial conflicts in the area which is a zone known for nightlife but also criminal activity. Police deployed over 1,200 officers in follow-up operations in the neighborhood, increased patrols, and sealed off the scene initially for evidence collection. |

Ouch  Now they use grenades ? Killing or scaring all the customers of a business doesn't seem like a great method of extorsion  Is it me or does one of the guys at the feet of which the device exploded still stand when the smokes clears ? |
