Re: Oldschool Electric Chair
Personally? If I found myself at the criminal end of a really fucked up crime? I think I would ask for the death penalty.. Back in my days of idiocy when I was younger, I had found myself in county jail for two 45 day and a 90 day stay (also had 14 days for breaking my bail on another occasion, and countless nights in the drunk tank..lol). Was in the hole for 30 of the 90 days.. (medical reasons at the time, got same treatment as those who broke a law in jail.) With only my 194 days total time in county? I would not even want to imagine what the remainder of ones life rotting in one of those shit holes would be like... Sign me up for some legal euthanasia... You want to talk inhumane? Jail is pretty inhumane.. and I wasn't even in a bad prison. (I don't think so anyways.. it did suck of course. seen 5 fights, and my celly got tossed in the hole for doing tattoos..lol) On a positive note? been a good boy.. 5 years, 8 months + since I drank or been arrested. |

Re: Oldschool Electric Chair
While I can see where you're coming from, I must also say you're incorrect. Hanging is a very simple method of execution, but it also requires quite a bit of calculation to be effective. You may think all it takes is a rope around the neck and a trap door, but you're wrong. If the same rope was used over and over, it would eventually break through time with the continuous weight of various bodies exerted on it. That being said, it likely wouldn't have a very long life. Ironically, a shorter one than the person whose neck it will fit around. You see, the rope isn't the problem. It's the weight of the body. For example, if a fat man is to be hung, he will require a much shorter rope than that of a thin man. Simple physics. If the fat body is given more time to fall, it will gather so much momentum that it just won't stop falling... and well.. will turn a hanging into a decapitation pretty fast. Pretty cool really, but also not exactly humane. Heh.

Re: Oldschool Electric Chair
IMHO it doesn't really matter to me how long they hang there for as long as it causes death. In all honesty, whats humane about executions??? Isnt the point to carry out death sentences to kill??? If I have anyone of any size hanging on a rope for over, say 10 minutes... THEY WILL BE DEAD!!!!!! If any person of any size falls through a trap door, say 6-10ft free-fall, with a rope around their neck and hang for 10 minutes.. THEY WILL BE DEAD!!!!! Its all a matter of physics and physiology.... The physics of a 6-10ft free-fall with a rope around the neck.. In addition to the physiology of no oxygen to the brain after 6 minutes is clinical death.. I say just hang them till they are dead. If it takes 15 minutes they I guess it will take 15 minutes.. People have been hanging people since the dawn of mankind.... It works... People do it all the time to themselves and others, that will never change... |

Re: Oldschool Electric Chair
You've taken the original message way out of context. He was talking about reusing the rope over and over, whereas you were speaking about blatantly hanging people. There's quite a difference. Yes, it will work. But not for long. And unless you want to personally clean up after each and every mess you will commit, then it won't be practical.
