Re: Old Woman Was Died Under the Truck Wheel

Truck drivers fault. Way too close to the crosswalk. You should also use an extreme amount of caution when there are pedestrians around and not accelerate from a dead stop so aggressively. Very poor truck design also. Trucks made in the U.S. have much better visibility in the front with much less of a blind spot.
How can you say trucks designed in the US have better visibility when you have front engined trucks. The Cab over truck provides a vast improvement on visibility.

How did she become a statistic? She never started crossing at the crossing point, she started from halfway back the length of the truck and passed the front of the truck just inches from the front therefore the truck driver would not have been able to see her. He never moved until all the pedestrians who started crossing at the correct place had passed the front of his vehicle. It was her own fault entirely.

Furthermore, anyone with an HGV licence (as I have) will tell you just how much torque it takes to get a laden truck moving and how they "jerk" and "bounce" so it is not unrealistic to fail to notice a soft bag of meat going under the wheels at low speed.

Late model U.S. trucks are designed with sloping noses which not only cuts down on the blind spot directly in front of the vehicle, but also greatly decreases the aerodynamic drag coefficient making the trucks much more fuel efficient.
The U.S. stopped building cab-over trucks a long time ago specifically for those reasons. Also any safe truck driver would never pull up closer to a crosswalk or a vehicle than his blind spot allows him to see.
I possess a U.S. Commercial Drivers License, have driven trucks for 30 years and am the Lead Driver and Safety Director for a large petroleum transportation company in Tampa, FL so I can assure you I know what I am talking about.

I bet 99% of the people in the death/fail section of this site diying in car accidents possesed a car drivers licens. What does your point prove? Absolutely nothing.

I have more the a "car licens" dummy. I am a professional driver with over 30 years experience and 3,000,000+ miles of driving experience under my belt.

now now. Did I call you any names Sir? Surely as you have just proven, politeness doesn't go with age, common sense on the road doesn't go along with the lenght of drivers license one has, the KIND of drivers license one has, and the amount of miles one has driven
