Since around 2010 the new guidelines have focused more on compressions rather than the rescue breaths. Not that breathing isn’t important but getting the blood pumping and delivering it’s residual oxygen is more important in these situations Plus...they found people (bystanders that are not first responders) would be more apt to help if they didn’t have to swap saliva with a random stranger and could rather just pound on their chest until first responders arrived |
