It's so offensive because it was used as a derogatory statement to black slaves demeaning them as a lesser person. Not knowing how to pronounce it is a lot different than calling a person that. Most ppl using it now in a "racial" situation are intentionally tryin to say they are a lesser person on earth. U ever hear of the Three Fifths Compromise?
