Caught in a whirlpool caused by the high water eddying past the bridge foundation. It looks like a horizontal whirlpool, so people with swimming skills could escape, but he was doomed. Zero swimming skills. Unable to propel himself, he churned around and was probably spat out deeper under. He was clearly unfamiliar with moving water, and probably was told by numerous people that they cross there. He is not a young man, so I don't understand why he would have been oblivious to the risk of flood water on a non-swimmer. |

why do the south american countries do lousy in the Olympics? Anyone that can run, jump or swim is already in the US.
