News Helicopter Crashes Whilst Reporting on Bus Crash in Los Angeles
Three people have died after a helicopter crashed in suburban Los Angeles, fire authorities in the city have said. The aircraft went down between two commercial buildings in the Chatsworth neighbourhood, a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) spokesperson told the BBC. One person has been transferred to a local hospital and their condition remains unknown. Footage from the scene showed two shipping containers and several vehicles burning. The blaze has been extinguished, the fire department said. It was not immediately clear who was operating the aircraft, but local media reports suggested it was a news helicopter that was flying near the scene of a fatal bus crash. |

you can hear the Engine spooling down before she says "you cant pull up" but he was still auto rotating and looked like he should have been able to land it. Guessing he hit power lines and flipped it or something.

As many news choppers as there are in the air (in LA especially) chasing bad guys and other events, I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. Tragic story.

Also two killed in that bus crash making a total of 5  NBC4 aerial photojournalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw were tragically killed. Representatives from NBC Los Angeles confirmed that the station abruptly lost contact with the crew during live broadcast operations without an explicit emergency distress signal. Eyewitnesses driving near the 9100 block of North Mason Avenue reported seeing the Eurocopter AS 350 B2 helicopter descending unusually. |
