Re: NEW YORK | Sleeping Woman Set on Fire in Subway Car
The NYPD hasn't exactly earned a stellar reputation on DR for effectively dealing with people who are on fire. You may recall this incident from last year... https://www.documentingreality.com/f...-trial-253492/ They all seem to react like they've seen it a million times before, but very few actually do anything. I imagine they've seen some pretty awful things to become that desensitized. |

Re: NEW YORK | Sleeping Woman Set on Fire in Subway Car
I get the reaction but consider a few things: you don't expect to see someone on fire so the freeze response to such is even more pronounced, even in NY; without immediate intervention with fire suppression tools (which weren't on hand), there were nearly no chance of her being saved; this was a fire department call, not police; even with the tools being on-scene, people would have to act with said tools, which is the biggest hurdle (more to your point). There's a very good reason we have an instinctual fear, respect, and fascination of/with fire. I carry a fire extinguisher in my car but only because I've driven past a few actively on fire, or smoldering, vehicles. Otherwise, this would've never even occurred to me. How many people have fire extinguishers in their own kitchens? Just food for thought. |

Probably in shock already. Who could imagine closing your eyes and waking up on fire, with people watching and filming you?

They won't give the death penalty because it was overturned in New York in 2004 dipshit
