LAS VEGAS (Feb 22, 2024) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have released new details about their second officer-involved shooting that left one man dead early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, officers Joshua Romanski and officer Paul Guerrero responded to a suicide call at the 2500 block of south Eastern avenue near Sahara.

Police say, 41-year-old Jose LS, who was believed to be experiencing homelessness was using a 29 inch metal object and using it to cut his arm.

Once officers arrived on scene, police say they attempted to deescalate the situation and ordered Jose LS to step back. However, police say Jose LS ignored their commands and continued advancing towards officers, which prompted them to fire a low lethal round.

Detectives say after police struck Jose LS in the leg with the low lethal round, he continued making his way towards responding officers with the large metal weapon still in his hand.

That's when investigators say officer Romanski opened fire, shooting three rounds, while officer Guerrero fired two.

Police say Jose LS was then taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Both Officers Romanski and Guerrero have been placed under paid leave pending the investigation.

Well, regarding that poll at the top; I'd prefer to see the Documenting Reality Digest edition of officer involved shootings. Maybe less talking cop heads at the mic and more footage of chestcam videos leading up to the critical incidents and, most importantly, including the bad guys being blasted to red mists by the cops
