NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man wanted for attempted murder of a Nashville Rescue Mission employee was killed Monday morning in an officer-involved shooting.
Metro Nashville Police Department have been searching for Tadarius Milan Hunt, 29, since Sunday afternoon. Hunt, 29, was wanted on attempted criminal homicide for allegedly opening fire on the employee who barred Hunt from the property earlier that day, MNPD reported.
Monday's shooting occurred on the Division Street Bridge. Hunt was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries, and an MNPD officer was grazed on the leg.
Officers have been searching for Hunt at various homeless camps and the general downtown Nashville area when he was spotted at the Frugal MacDoogal's liquor store around 11 a.m. Monday.
Police say Hunt produced a semi-auto pistol at law enforcement when he was directed to stop and "an exchange of gunfire" occurred, resulting in Hunt's death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports Hunt fired several shots at officers, and at least two officers returned fire.
MNPD Officer Clayton Lewis, a 9-year MNPD veteran, is currently being treated at the hospital for his gunshot wound. He is expected to be discharged later Monday.
The TBI is investigating this case which is ongoing.
